Future Housing Canada Month_
Housing’s Industrial Revolution.
Housing cannot scale on the same tools, processes and business models that got us here. Future Housing Canada Month brings together the builders, investors, technology companies and industry leaders changing the equation.
Through a series of events from mid-October into December, we’ll explore where the next breakthroughs are happening and where the next great businesses are being built.
Make building more like manufacturing.
Bring prefab, robotics and automation into the mainstream to deliver homes faster and at lower cost.
Replace friction with intelligence.
Use connected data and digital tools to move projects from design and permitting through construction and operation.
Back the companies that can scale.
Connect innovators with the capital, customers and talent needed to turn proven ideas into industry standards.
The Events
A curated series of summits, hackathons, and forums designed to accelerate the industrialization of housing.
The Autodesk Buildathon: Federated Systems & Construction Anonymization
Core Focus
Safety Data, Secure Data Interoperability
Improving construction productivity, quality and safety depends on how industry data is shared and put to work. Autodesk Research and DMZ’s Centre for Housing Innovation (CHI) bring together AECO industry leaders, startups, researchers and funders to close a month-long construction data sprint, share findings and discuss the next steps toward a more open data ecosystem. General contractors and industry partners from across North America are helping lead this effort. Hosted at OCAD University’s Waterfront Campus in Toronto, the event features Grant Findlay, Chair of the UK’s Construction Data Trust, sharing practical lessons on trusted data sharing and making construction data useful at scale. CHI startups will then pitch how they are innovating with open construction data.
